She emigrated to the U.S. in 1888 and stayed there until 1897 when she returned to Sweden. In 1909, at age 71, she went to stay with her son Albin who lived in Port Ludlow, WA. "Anna Merkel and was born Jan. 9, 1911, in Rockford, Ill., to Edward Merkel and Eva Misunas Merkel. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1927.
She married Harry Walter Bergstrom on Nov. 28, 1936, in Rockford. He died in 1999.
She spent all of her youth in Rockford. She lived in Sun City, Ariz., for one year and moved to Fort Collins in 1970.
While living in Rockford, Anna worked 18 years for a cabinet company and 22 years for an accounting firm. When she moved to Fort Collins, she worked four years for Judge John Kochenburger when he was in private practice. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and sewing.
