Notes |
- Cf. Ancestry.com: "During the early years of her marriage, her husband Carl-Johan Belfrage was a soldier in the Swedish Army, and often times, he would be gone for an extended amount of time, since travel wasn't that easy and the pay wasn't that great, so to help 'make ends meet', Karen baked bread and pastries and sold them. After the death of her daughter Emma, Karen had
a nervous breakdown, and had to be hospitalized, and shortly afterward, her husband filed for a divorce."
She emigrated to the U.S. in 1888 and stayed there until 1897 when she returned to Sweden. In 1909, at age 71, she went to stay with her son Albin who lived in Port Ludlow, WA. Kajsa arrived from Southampton at Ellis Island on 26 Feb 1909 and crossed the country from there eventually ending up in WA.
